Forest View is a beautifully considered cottage rebuild in the heart of the New Forest, designed to bring a traditional dwelling up to modern standards while retaining its rural charm.
This project provided the opportunity to reimagine a semi-detached New Forest cottage, ensuring it remains fit for the future through careful design and material selection. The layout responds directly to the unique geometry of the site, where the rear garden sits at a 45° angle to the house. By expanding the footprint through this angle, the new design creates spacious, light-filled living areas with a natural and dynamic flow between spaces, that pour out into the garden.
Externally, a subtle grey brick complements the off-white render, defining architectural elements and adding a touch of refinement to the cottage’s contemporary character. The result is a sensitive yet modern interpretation of New Forest vernacular design, blending seamlessly into its natural surroundings.
